Happy 4th of July

Our 4th was lots of fun this year. We started off our day with a fun neighborhood parade and pancake breakfast. The girls decorated (well, mom and dad did) their bikes to ride in the parade. There was an ambulance to lead the way. Unfortunately, right when the parade started, Madelines chain fell off her bike so dad had to quickly fix that, and Lauren doesn't really know how to ride her bike, so the girls walked, while mom and dad carried the bikes. :-) It was classic. Madeline did win the "Judges Favorite" for her bike, so that made her very excited!! That afternoon we went swimming with our cousins and then last night we went over to Eagle Island State Park to watch the fireworks. We anticipated that we needed to get there a couple hours in advance to get a good spot, which turned out to NOT be the case, but we had a really good time walking around and letting the girls play on the playground. Because it stays so light here so late (10:30pm), it was a late night. The girls didn't get to bed until midnight, but it was tons of fun and Maddie loved the fireworks. Lauren spent the first little while with her head buried in my chest because she didn't want the "fireworks to get her," but when she realized they were up in the sky and she was safe, all she wanted to do was "touch them." She's a silly little girl. We had a great 4th with our little family, and hope you had a great day too!

Sounds like you guys had a busy day! I can't believe it stays light that late! I would rather have it that way. It is light here at 5:00 in the morning. I'm sure you remember that. The kids get up so early. They thinks once it's light, it's time to be awake!

That is so fun, I remember when we were little we always did parades around the church for Pioneer Day it was so fun to get our bikes all decorated. Our neigborhood here was doing that too, it was sad to miss out on that! I love the classic mom and dad carrying the bikes while the kids are walking next to them, too funny.
