Is Couponing Worth It?

Ok you discount queens, I have had a few people ask about how I did my Albertsons trip on Friday night, so here is the breakdown. (sorry it's not a very good picture and you can't see everything, but I will try my best to explain!)

Most of what I bought was stuff I could put in my freezer for those "in need" moments.

1st transaction:

4 boxes of bagelfuls (my hubby loves these to take for bfast): $4 off $10 + (4) $1/1 coupon for each = 4/$2

2nd transaction:

2 boxes of bagelfuls/4 bags of Valley Fresh Steamers vegetables

$4/ off $10 + (2) $1/1 coupon for bagelfuls, (2) .60/1 coupon for veggies

3rd transaction:

3 boxes of Kashi pizza: $3/$15 automatically. (3) $3.00 off coupons (I got these a couple of months ago on a tearpad at Albies...I have one left if anyone is interested. I won't use it.)

= $3/3 boxes of pizza

4th transaction:

3 boxes of Crystal Light on-the-go packs: $4/$10 + (1) buy one, get one free coupon, (1) get .50/2 coupon (these are on a tearpad at the product)

2 digornio flatbread pizzas (2) $1/1 coupons

5th transaction:

3 boxes Crystal Light on the go packs: $4/$10 + (1) B1G1, .50/2 coupon (tearpad)

2 california kitchen pizza flatbreads (2) $2/1 coupons

6th transaction: spend $25 get $10 for next transaction

6 Healthy Choice Frozen meals: (6) coupons, some were $1/1 some $1/2

3 egg beaters (3) coupons $1/1

2 Hebrew National Hotdogs: (2) $1/1

5 Albertsons recycleable bags .59/ea = 3.20ish

Ok, so basically, I didn't do 6 separate transactions. That's just how I broke them down in my mind. I did 1 transaction since I only had 1 $10 back from spending $25. (Otherwise I would have had to do a separate transaction to get my other $10 back.) The computer automatically took off the other amounts in the other promos doing it in one transaction.

I also had a 10% off $50 and a $7/$75 which I was able to use both.

Total before coupons: $141.70

- 10% = $9.20

- $7/$75 = $7

-$42.00 Manu. coupons

-$18.66 store coupons

Total savings: $122.97

OOP: $18.73

Received $20.00 back. Here's how: (2) $5 catalinas from ConAgra Promo and (2) "we value your opinion", fill out this survey and get $5.00 back

Pretty sweet huh? THEN: I'm getting the car and the hubby calls and tells me to pick up stuff for smores that night, so back into the store I went and came across this deal:

Buy 3 Capri Suns, get a Nabisco multi pack for FREE. These coupons are peelies on the Nabisco product.

I wasn't lucky enough to double my capri sun coupons last week, so I still had them. I also found a tearpad coupon next to some capri suns (they weren't in the juice isle, they were on an end cap towards the dog food) for $1 off Nabisco snacks when you purchase 2 capri suns. Cha-ching!!

So I bought 3 capri suns, (3) $1/1 coupons and a multi pack of Oreo cookies (FREE) for $3.50! Saweet!

I also got my smores ingredients with a $5 catalina from the previous transaction. So my total OOP for the night was $21.43 with my $15 back.

Any questions??? :-)

So do you look for these coupons or do they give them to you on the back of the receipt? I'm just curious how you find the deals!

yes, although my question has nothing whatsoever to do with couponing (which i haven't quite gotten into yet). on your blog list, how do you get that format where it will tell you who's updated their blog most recently instead of just giving you the name???

Wow, I'm in awe, but I'm also confused. Where do you get most of the coupons? Which store do you shop at? I think I'm going to need some one-on-one training. Come to Utah!
