Summer Trip 2009 (continued)

AH, THE BEACH
So a trip that should have taken 1 1/2 hours to get there, ended up taking us 4 hours one way. Yeah, it was a nightmare. The kids did great, the mom, not so much. It was very frustrating. If you know the east coast, you know that their freeways are not very big, and the pace the laid back. (and if you know me, you know how much I love car rides....ugh) The Saturday we chose to go to the beach, so did everyone else...and their dog....and all their puppies too. It was insane. So, 4 hours later, we arrived at the beach only to wait and wait and wait for someone to leave so we could have their parking space....at $25/day. The day was half over by the time we got there.
It's a good thing kids don't remember that it took 4 hours to get there, because once we did get settled, it was all worth it. We don't see much beach here in Boise, so the kids were in awe of the waves and the sand and the salt water. Even mom got her hair wet and played in the waves. I got tossed around a few times, swallowed a bit too much salt water, and had a absolute blast. So did the kids...and Grampa, the big kid did too!

Right before we were getting ready to leave, my dad and Matt decided they would go in for one more wave. The next thing we know, Matt is running for a towel in a panic. He wouldn't tell us what was wrong, he just got the towel and ran off. So I follow him with my eyes, and see my dad walking towards us, bloody head and all. The last wave took him under so hard, that it flipped him and skinned his head on the bottom of the ocean. In the words of my father, "It's tough to be him."

UNO ATTACK
Your Sunday afternoon is never complete without a round or two of UNO ATTACK. It was Madelines first time playing and quickly became her favorite game. I love these pictures because you can see how truly happy she is and how much fun she was having with her Great Grandma Logie. And I think Grandma was having fun too!
notice the cards flying out at Grandma. We were getting the biggest kick out of this silly game.
"I WON, I WON!"
