A few years ago, we started a tradition to go camping over Memorial Day weekend. We went for a couple years in a row, and then we had a family reunion one year, so we didn't go. This year, the Araves invited us to go to their cabin in Ephraim, UT. It's always a good time with the Araves, so we accepted the invitation and make the trek down to UT. The kids are always excited to see their friends, as are mom and dad!
our first stop...IKEA. Always need to have some lunch and browse the store. Love that store!
then we headed to the cabin. Mitchell enjoying the campfire
the pit was lightly placed on the ground, so we had to be really careful for the kids to not get too close!
daddy and daughter
roasting hot dogs
Mitchy and Toben playing in the water
pretty Utah scenery
time for s'mores
oh my cute Mitchy
Maddie and Chase found themselves some secret hideouts down the hill.
this one was Chase's personal hideout
and this one was Madeline's personal hideout
not just one s'more, but TWO! he knows what's good!
I love s'mores, but I don't like that the chocolate is never melted. I was determined to figure out a way to melt the chocolate on the stick before putting the s'more together. I did and it was goooodddd!!!
party in the loft of the cabin
big sister Laurens favorite place to be. with baby sis in her arms!

then we went down into Ephraim to a scandinavian festival they were holding.
here the kids are checking out the honey bees.
Brock and Matt figuring out the stilts
Maddie giving it a shot!
Lauren listening to stories about the "old days"
playing some games they played "back then."
even my shy Lauren got involved!
can't leave Mitchy out!
Maddie playing with dad. They were tossing a ring onto a stick
This is a funny story. Ammon used to work at Snow College, here in Ephraim. He told us about this tree that they used to run up. So he was showing us how it was done and the kids wanted to give it a try. You have to get a running start, so we were back at the sidewalk. Each of the kids were taking turns running up the tree to see how high they could get. Just as Matt was about to give it a go, some kid walked up, sat right in the way and began reading his book. I guess he didn't realize we were playing on the tree. We stood there for a minute waiting to see if he was going to leave, and when he didn't, we did. We went back later to give it another try.
see, some random kid reading his book, right in our way. :-)
There was a band playing, and Mitch started dancing, right on the sidewalk!
Ammon is a pro. He made it to the top. Getting down was the hard part.
Toben, Lexi and Lauren
Mitchell and Lex
When we were driving to the cabin, we told the kids this was the cabin we were staying in. They thought it was awesome. Then we told them we were joking. They didn't quite get it! haha!
this was the actual cabin
oh, there's Matt giving it a try!
we spent some time at the Araves house where Mitchell and Asher played nicely together. Mitch annoyed the other boys all weekend. Mitch would follow Toben around poking him and Toben would run away tell Mitch, "I no like that." If Mitch only had a brother.
Lexa just chilled all weekend
and gave us a smile for the camera!
Such a fun weekend with great friends. Can't wait for the next time!
Thanks Araves!
