First NIGHT of First Grade

Madelines two top teeth have been loose for a long time now, and we have wiggled, wiggled, and wiggled them along. To no avail have we been able to get them out. She finally has been complaining about how they hurt and her gums have become red and swollen, but every time I would get near them, she would clench her mouth shut. Now, I know what you are all saying, just grab and pull. It wasn't that easy. We tried to "grab and pull," we tried floss, we tried tying her tooth to a string and slamming the door (ok, not really), but believe we tried to get these two darn teeth out.

The day before the first day of school, Madeline told me she wasn't ready to have her teeth out because she didn't want to look "hopeless" on her first day of first grade. I couldn't figure out what she meant by than and then it clicked. She didn't want to look "HOMELESS" on her first day of school. I giggled. And I left her teeth alone so she didn't have a complex about how she looked for school.

BUT....Monday night, I was wiggling, and Madeline pulled her head away from me as she always did and wa-la. It was out. She didn't even know it was out either. That's how bad it didn't hurt. Oh, she was excited and giddy and wrote the toothfairy a letter to leave her tooth so she could show her class. She also told me to "do her a favor " and pull her other tooth out while she was sleeping. I tried. I didnt' work. The toothfairy came, and left her $1.95 (????) but she was just excited to get money. Thank You toothfairy!!!

And two days later....

the toothfairy had a $2 tab on that tooth. *sigh*
