Christmas Festivities 2009

My brother Brian and his adorable wife Kristy came to spend Christmas with us this year. It has been a hectic time because we are moving the day after Christmas, but for the most part, we have had an enjoyable holiday season. Of course, it all started with our Thanksgiving/Disneyland Trip, a short stay from Grandpa Logie and Jilene's birthday. It's always a busy time of year, but we do try to remember the "real meaning" of Christmas.

Christmas Eve was wonderful. We stepped outside of the box and went with a yummy Prime Rib dinner. We invited our friends the Stimpsons and their little boy Trace. Lisa was due any time with the second baby, a little girl. We were glad Kendra didn't make her appearance during dinner. :-) After dinner, we had a spiritual thought and of course, played our "Night Before Christmas" game. Madeline wanted to read the story this year, and on the very last page, she decided she needed to go to the bathroom and up she went. It was really quite funny. She left us all hanging...

isn't she adorable???

Santa made it to our house that night and left everything we could have ever wanted. The kids must have been REALLY good this year, or Santa just REALLY loves them!

Madelines Vanity

Laurens Princess Bike
Mitchells Motorized 4 Wheeler

The Stockings were hung...
or laid by the couch because they were too heavy to hang (I made all our stockings)

And for my journaling purposes, one quick story I don't want to forget:

It was getting late, so I decided to get in bed and wait for Santa to come. Matt had gone over to the other house to get some things done, so he was gone. I crawled into bed, knowing the my girls would most likely join me, laid my head down and not five minutes later, I heard little footsteps coming into my room. (In that house, you had to pass through the family room, where Santa would visit, in order to get to my bedroom, so I knew the girls were going to see if Santa had come yet.) Sure enough, it was Madeline. She crawled into bed and started crying. She said that she had seen Santa had come and saw Laurens bike, but didn't see her vanity. I put my arm around her, and her little heart was pounding so fast, and she was whimpering. She asked if Santa was even going to bring her anything because she didn't see anything out there for her. I reassured her that Santa would indeed bring her something, but I didn't know what. My heart was breaking for my little girl who thought Santa had forgotten about her. Oh, if I could have only told her the truth. At that point, Lauren had crawled into bed with us and Matt had come home. Maddie told Matt the same thing, again in tears. Matt, the great dad he is, assured her that she didn't see anything because Santa hadn't even been to our house yet. He told her he was just out in the family room and there was nothing there. It seemed to do the trick for the night and she fell back to sleep. Restless for sure, but asleep for the night.
